December News
Merry Christmas to all our members

As 2007 is slowly draing to an end and the winter weather is finally setting in I thought it would be a good idea to give a small progress report on how things are going here at Carp Fishing Forums.

FishingFriends is seemingly taking forever to get going, ive beensolely devoting all my spare time to it, and believe me it's not a simple script to write. Some bits are currently working like member searches, member information, the approvals system. Next on the plan of things to do is write some form of private real-time-chat system so approved buddies can directly chat to each other, kind of a simplified version of MSN messenger but without all the snazzy features like file sharing etc.

If there are any other features that you thing would be a good idea please post in the dedicated thread in the off-topic forum.

The news will be updated shortly but for now we are concentrating our efforts on the FF system.

  • Coleman will advise you on how to check the product to ensure its safety and will replace it if need be.
Updates for September
Well, firstly I'd like to appologise for the site being down yesterday, we are unsure what happened and we are currently in contact with the datacentre to make sure this is not going to be an ongoing problem.

Unfortunately there just wasnt the time available this month to overhaul the photo gallery, dont worry we havnt forgotten, were just doing our homework this time round to make sure that we get exactly what we want and that it has as many features as we need and still be user friendly. Most of the one's we have seen so far would need everyone to get a degree in IT. We are going to start publishing the newsletters at the end of this month (i know we havnt released any yet via email!).

One thing worth mentioning, if you have Windows Vista then you can get the latest info from the forum directly on your desktop in the widget rss reader. If you'd like more info on that please have a look at our RSS info page, the link is on the lower left hand side in one of the sideboxes.
Carp Forums Site News July 07
Things have been a bit hectic around here of late, what with the move to a new server and lots of upgrades we are currently working on new articles and areas on the site so here's a little bit of info so you can know what the future of Carp Fishing Forums holds.
News Archive Section
This is currently live and can be found by clicking the Carp News link on the top menu, here you will find nicely presented news from the world of carp fishing with some other angling information thrown in for good measure
Tackle Shop Links Directory
At last the links directory is looking something like a link directory albeit there are only a few links in there now, but we are aiming for it to be one of the most comprehensive guides to UK tackle shops, already the directory can be sorted by tackle shop name in alphabetical order or by county in alphabetical order and the results filtered by what services the tackle shop offers i.e custom rod building or baitmaking ingredients & equipment. If anyone knows any good shops with some details then please PM meor any other admin and we'll get them added. Please bear in mind that its still under development so some things might be a bit glitchy and if you notice anything wrong then again please PM us to let us know.
In addition to this we're still working on our Youtube videos. The next one in the series will show you how to make your own boilies from off the shelf base mixes and additives.

we hope you stick with us as the site grows and evolves and we're aiming to make this one of the best carp fishing resources on the net so please tell your friends, family and local tackle shop staff as the more members we have the better the site will be.

Thanks

Carp-Fish Admin Team.
New Carp Tackle for May & June 07
Here's some news on the latest carp tackle, baits and accessories to be hitting the tackle shop shelves:

Pondskater Bait Boat

A good quality and highly versatile bait boat. The Orca has a self-righting ability so its unlikely to end up upside down, it also has a built in failsafe to prevent you from sailing it out of transmitter range, the sleek design prevents vegetation snagging it up and it also features a unique sliding bait delivery system meaning its capable of handling more types of bait than some of the flap-door designs do. These are expected to retail around £300 for more info have a look on fishing tackle, uk fishing tackle shop, discount fishing tackle, fishing tackle online, carp fishing tackle, sea fishing tackle, fly fishing tackle, mail order fishing tackle - TackleShop.co.uk

Dynamite Baits Fresh Fish range
This new range of boilies from Dynamite Baits is made entirely without eggs, instead its made solely from fresh fish to give good digestibility which prevents less of a hazard to carp in winter months and includes extracts such as liver powder and green lipped mussel. Freezer and shelf-life baits are available along with dedicated pop ups and liquid attractant. Expect to pay around a tenner for 1 kilo.

Shimano Technium Tribal line

Camou main line from the tackle gian Shimano which is designed for extreme abrasion resistance and high knot strength. It is available in 8, 10, 12 and 15lb breaking strains. Bulk spools start from around £32.99

Nash Hooligun Beanie unhooking mat

A good quality medium sized unhooking mat, the mat is padded with foam sections and poly beans giving excellent protection for decent sized carp, can be folded in half for ease of transit.

Fox Micron STR Presentation set

A set of three remote alarms with a reciever in a foam padded presentation case. The STR features adjustable tone and volume, matching LED's, Soft touch rod rest inlays, two sensitivity settings and magnetic roller wheel. Reciever is supplied with a protective case and has a range of approximately 60 metres from the alarms.
Carp Fishing News June 07
The closed season has finally ended and for those of you who belong to angling clubs that still enforce a closed season are itching to get back on the bank and land a few decent carp, I know I am.

Well, there hasnt been much in the way of carp fishing news so to speak otherwise i'dhave made more of an update however there is some site news that might be of interest especially to our beginner carp anling members. Our series of carp fishing tutorials on Youtube has been doing quite well so far, the hair rig tutorial has been viewed over 700 times since it was added at the beginning of the month and we have just added a new video which is kind of a guided tour around a typical two rod carp fishing setup with some details about reels, bite alarms, bobbins etc.

With the new season just starting we're very hopeful that the forum will grow as hopefully our existing members will continue to spread the word on what the site is about. Hopefully this year will see us attending some of the carp shows and events so there should be plenty of photos from those appearing steadily. Dont forget that to add your pictures to the photo gallery you need to be a registered member (which is totally free and is a pretty painless process) and then you can share them with the rest of us.

New Carp Tackle
Chub Smartbox

A good all-round comprehensive tackle box, the bottom of the organiser boxes are curved to allow them to be easily removed from the main box without having to pick at them with snips or forceps. The smaller accessory boxes are available in 8, 4 and 2 compartments making them ideal for storing various sized items, there are smaller 4 compartment boxes which are ideally sized for hooks, swivels etc. There are also spool dispensers allowing you to store hooklength materials/braids, pva string etc. and are fitted with a cutter allowing you to neatly snip off the length you require. The main edges of the box have a large lip which helps to form a water resistant seal.

Shimano Super Baitrunner XTE-A

Long established as one of the best carp fishing reels and consistently one of the best selling reels on the market this new offering will be no exception. There will be 5000, 6000, 8000 and 10000 models available. The XTE-A has lots of great features including:
  • Hybrid aluminium body, spool has a graphite stem and aluminium sides
  • Septon handle knob, improved comfort and grip
  • Shielded bearings, which are rust resistant and oxidation resistant
  • Oiling port, allows you to top up the gearbox oil meaning smoother running and improved life of gearing.
  • Super Stopper 2, reduces backlash in the rotor
  • Improved Baitrunner release mechanism to disengage faster
  • Dual-speed spool oscillation for improved line lay on spool.
  • Increased drag - setting increased for snag fishing.
It is supplied with two spools weighing in around 600g, the RRP of the 10000 XTE-A is approximately £129.99 and is sure to be a best seller among carp anglers worldwide.
