re-waterproofing your waterproofs

alright all, am I right in saying that if you wash your waterproofs you need to re-waterproof them using some spray or coating?
If so, does anyone recommend a good one?

Cheers

Paul

Re: re-waterproofing your waterproofs

Paul,

In my experience it can depend on the waterproofs. Are yours a goretex (breathable) material. If so, it is not necessary to re-proof them everytime. However, how you wash them is important. You need to make sure that you use a non-biological powder/liquid and do not use a fabric conditioner. If you wish to reproof I have used NIKWAX products before and they have seemed to work well. They do 2 basic types, one that washes in and also one that sprays on afterwards.

Happy Waterproofing
