Sunglasses for carp fishing
Hi-I'm new to this forum. I like the outdoors and I like to fish - but I also like to be able to see what's going on in the water. Even when it's sunny out. I'm a writer and I work with for the agency that works for Polaroid Eyewear - the people who brought you the original polarised lens. There's a UK retail site with special stock for fishing. I wear Polaroid sunglasses and I like them. They get rid of the glare and they're lightweight. But I'd like to know what you think. What sunglasses do you like? What's important to you? Polarization? Lens colour? Scratch-resitant coating? And what about price?
Murky vs. clear water? I look forward to your thoughts. |

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
to be fair polarization would be the first on the list, i dont mind paying a little extra for quality products. then i suppose the look of them will be a clincher, dont get me wrong im not a tackle tart but the look of them would make me decide from one pair to another. The lens colour really depends on what weather conditions your fishing in but a good allrounder would be ideal saves taking a couple of pairs with you on the bank

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
I think you're right about the polarization. Lens colour is a tough decision. I like yellow in the morning and evening, but if the day is bright, grey is good. But I think some people really prefer green. And let's face it looks are important, even if you're not a tackle tart. For me, that's all a part of comfort. Anglers are a patient lot, but uncomfortable sunglasses are annoying.
Thanks for your answer. |

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
Again, as Jonjo said, polarisation is probably the most important factor, followed by lense colour for me, on a bgight sunny day I prefer a yellow tint lens as for some reason I seem to be able to see more detail through this than other colours.

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
Hi=
Thanks for that comment. I think you're right about yellow. Some anglers also like yellow in low light. Yellow helps you see more accurately underwater. Contrasts are also better. If you're interested, Polaroid has some yellow lenses on the Polaroid UK internet site. If you enter the code carp1 when prompted, you'll receive a 10% discount. Thanks again |

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
I've got a pair of Oakley Flakjackets with Polarized lenses. Cost about £200 with the lenses though but they are awesome.

Re: Sunglasses for carp fishing
ok luara sent me a pair of these polaroid glasses out to test for her.
i recieved the torrent polaroids. sports sunglasses, Torrent P7960B sports wraparound sunglasses for fishing and sailing ok, now these glasses were up for a hard test as i own what i can decribe as a pretty damn good shimano polaroids. and the resukts were inpressive, if not better. the shimano ones work better if wearing a cap, due to light leaking in, however the wrap round style of these torrents giving a far better image shutting out all invading light from the sides and from above, the weather was a hot clear day with a light wind(not the best for looking into water) but the vision in these conditions these glasses give are amazing. they are really comfortable to wear for long periods of time, i had mine on for a dew hours floater fishing and forgot they were there. a brilliant product that is defo worth a look. these really work and work well. here is a link to there other products, fishing sunglasses, polarized sunglasses for fishing |
