rigs

i was told by my local tackle dealer to forget all about the different rigs that i see in the fishing mags or where ever and keep it simple, good line and good hooks is all i need and it will save me a lot of money. well that come from a guy who has been into fishing all his life and who took over the family bussines from his dad running the takle shop thats good anough for me lol.

Re: rigs

I understand where he's coming from but these rigs in the mags and on TV etc. can and will catch fish. I agree with keeping things simple but isn't it nice to be all tarted up?

Re: rigs

used the rigs i made and had a good day

i went fishing down at newhay lakes, wow i sat there waiting for my first fish of the day, then my bite alarm went of on one rod i was reeling it in with a nice barlby on when my other bite alarm went of and i see the rod about to shoot of into the lake i dived with one rod in one hand and cought the other rod with the other i put the rod round a post that was sticking up out of the bank while i reeled in the barlble. i unhooked the barlble what was around 5lb and put it back then reeled in the other what was a nice carp 6.6lb. well after setting up the rods again and replacing the pod i landed on i sat there and i started to get grate pain in my shoulder that i landed on, yep i only 5ft 4 and weigh 15 stone so over weight and i have done my shoulder in and i am in grate pain at the mo, but all i can say is it was worth it and it will always be a memory i will never forget, thats what makes fishing what it is and keeps us keen as we are that was the best fun i have had in years

Re: rigs

Put up a good fight dont they

Glad to see that other people think along the same lines (no pun intended) that rigs dont need to be over-complicated. There's a time and a place that a certain rig might be best suited but I always try to keep it as simple as possible, simple rig mechanics = less to go wrong

Re: rigs

keep it simple, i never ever really use anything more than a knotless knot rig. i use hooks with a curved shank for my bottom baits, so no need for all this shrink tube lark. its a waste of money.

Re: rigs

KISS is all you need to remmember KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID lol.
The guy is quite correct as long as the hooks are razor sharp and prik the mouht of the fish as it trys your bait you are 90% there. Most of the super rigs you se in mags catch more anglers than they do carp.
