Remmember the hooklenght is just a part of the endtackle set up your lead system must alos work well in silt to get the best from any bites you might get .

Re: rigs

silty bottoms hhhhmmmm.

so many things to take into consideration.

its the silt the nasty smelly type?

or thr fresher smelling type?

soft and deep?

or the harder firmer stuff?

is your lead to heavy and pulling your rig into the silt?(not always a problem as carp will search and feed deep into silt) use the lightest lead possible that you can reach the distance your fishing too. also avoid the "denser" feeling leads link sq pears, ball leads and have a look at flat pears.

stiffer hooklength materials can spoil presentations if the lead plugs deeply into the silt, almost sticking out like a rainbow. but balance the weight of your lead and the stiffer materials can be used with confidance.

birdfood type baits tend to stay fresher smelling over silt than fishmeals which can and do end up smelling really nasty.

over all i think you aint to far off the mark with the snowman presentation though mate, and ians pop-up presentation will also work nicely too.
