Hi,
I've managed to jam the arms of my brand new carp landing net(the first I've ever owned) has anyone got any tips on removing the arms from the spreader, please. Dave May |

Re: Carp Landing Net Problem
Hi Dave, have had the same problem years ago, there is no explainable solution that I know of, it's a case of perseverence. It did take me some time to get them out. A mate of mine also had same and squirted W/D 40 into the fitting and they did come out eventually. Sorry can't be of any more help, good luck mate.

Hi,
I appreciate the reply. It occurs to me that I may have to bend one arm sufficiently for the other to straighten, thereby taking the pressure off the insert. Does that make any sort of sense? I shall most certainly try some form of lubricant. Dave May. |

Re: Carp Landing Net Problem
Hi Dave, you've pretty much got it.
You need to take the strain off the "top" of the net so it doesn't hold the arms so tight. Try holding the net on it's side and pushing the 1 arm into the ground. Cheers Paul |

Thanks guys,
As soon as this white stuff allows me to get near my shed I'll give it a go. Dave May. |

Re: Carp Landing Net Problem
Dont put too much pressure on it otherwise there is a good chance you'll either break the spreader block or the arm. I'd also recommend some WD40 in there but make sure you thoroughly wash it all with washing up liquid afterwards to get rid of it.

Re: Carp Landing Net Problem
Smallfella
you have got the classic net problem mate. The net poles have to be under tension to keep the net string at the top of the poles tight. This give the net its true triangular shape, however this also puts a lot of load pressure on the spreader block. To pull the poles out of the spreader block you need to unload the tension by pushing one of the poles into the ground gently until the opposite pole can be pulled free from the spreader block. |
