Are custom rods worth the money?
Ive been looking at both century and harrison rods but thinking about having them custom built but which is damn expensive but this got me thinking is it actually worth it because surely companies like Harison and Century would have built the rod to the best specifications possible without me interfering so why rock the boat so to speak. I looked at Century Armalite mk3's which cost about £200 more than a ready-built Mk3 Armalite and surely the armalite has been designed to its best without me deciding to change things.

Re: Are custom rods worth the money?
It depends on what you're looking for in a carp rod really. I too have had my eye on some custom built Harrison rods with Fuji Lowrider guides and a custom reel seat, but im hoping that I can find a dealer nearer the time that can let me speak to their rod builder as im not 100% sure of what im going to want with regards to the action of the rods and have them personalised with custom whipping and text etc but im expecting these to cost upwards of £500 per rod.

Re: Are custom rods worth the money?
i've had both, custom built and off the shelf rods over the years.
all i will say is......buy the best you can afford......fortunately, i've afforded the customs,so that is my preferance .......it still relies on the skill you have to land the fish ."only a bad tradesman blames his tools"

Re: Are custom rods worth the money?
plus,it's whatever you feel comfortable with.......don't worry whatever anyone else thinks......you're the one that counts.
it's like buying a bottle of wine......if you spend $8 on a bottle and like the taste,it's good wine.......if you spend $50 on another bottle that someone "tells" you is good, and you don't like it....where does that get you?.......only $50 lighter in the pocket! you be your own judge

Re: Are custom rods worth the money?
plus you have to look at rod gurantees because if you get rods customized they might not be under warrinty anymore because theyve been tampered with so watch out

Re: Are custom rods worth the money?
Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it
For me i thought the £70 each i paid for 4 brand new Grays Prodigys with a lifetime garantee was a bargin |
