Question Good enough?

Hello,
I want to buy a new rod and reel.
I've already asked it in another topic on another forum, but i want to be sure:

Is a rod with a cast weight of 60g good enough for carp-fishing?
I don't cast very far, that's for sure...
And I don't want to catch 1 big fish, but more smaller carps.

Here's more info about the rod:
http://www.cormoran.de/co/en/product...ucts-model.htm

And does anyone have a tip about a reel for carpfishing on this site? (65euro or less)

Thanks!!!
chiele

Re: Good enough?

Have to be honest and say I dont think that would be up to the job, 60 grams casting weight translates to just over 2oz, which would make that a very light rod and you'd be better off looking for a carbon fibre/composite rod rather than a glass composite which is notoriously brittle and quite stiff in comparison so the rod would be far less responsive than a carbon equivalent.

If budget is tight it might be a good idea to try and find secondhand rods/reels as people often sell their old ones if they buy more expensive tackle, some real bargains can be picked up.

I'll have a scout around on the net and see if i can find something that fits in your price range that seems halfway decent

Hope this helps

Re: Good enough?

Might also be worth looking out for older models in the shops, decent older carp rods can often be had really cheap

Re: Good enough?

what do you mean with older models? second-hand?
I rather like a new rod actually...
and what about a 12foot 3lbs rod?
it's from the same mark (caperlan) as the rod i already have
and that rod is really good for me...
