Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?

I'm starting some experiments with my spod mix for this year, i've decided to try using tuna oils with ground up halibut pellets, partimix and some other goodies. Ill give some insight into whether its any good when i try it out next week.

Well, it seemed to work and it drove them down to feed off the bottom quite nicely. Using tuna oil and breadcrumb gave a really good clouding of particles and had a runs the second i put the rod back in the pod.

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?

i myself also love to use monster crab boilies as i have done very well with them but on a recent trip to my local pond i met a very pleasent angler who seemed to be doing very well with halibut pellets, he recommened i give them a go, since then my catches have improved, im using a inline lead with a 12lb main line and a 15lb snakebite hair rigged hook lenth with boilies or pellets on the hair attached to a medium sized pva bag attached full of boilie chops and loose pellets/boilies. i find this very productive..

mark i strongly reccommend that rather than using braid around your pva bag try using pva tape or pva line/thread, anglers put far to much line in our waters already by getting snapped off by snags and big fish ect ect, this method will mean that the tape/thread will disolve rather than having the braid float off into our carp waters.

regards
thaine

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?

I too am am a user of the pellets, but i've started to actiavely look out for low oil varieties which i know goes against what most people would think makes a successful bait but something crossed my mind this winter and that was carp find it difficult to digest fatty oils epecially with a lower water temperature so hopefully im right in thinking that a lower oil content pellet would promote digestion and prove more successful in the winter.

Anyone else think along those lines? oor is it just me doing my usual and trying to overcomplicate things?

mark, i just recently bought a pva 5 metre sock and funnel off ebay for around 7.50gbp bargain price and works great, try this it is very easy to tie knots in and many dry baits work in it and you can also use ground baits if mixed with oils instead of water..

Similar to Korda Funnelweb type thing?

I used to use that quite a lot too, easy to tie and virtually no wastage but a bit expensive i thought. I'll have to look it up but i did find a much cheaper one a while back in my local tackle shop and it looked to be a pretty similar type of thing.

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?

I was thinking of trying those new Fresh Fish Mussel and Oyster Boilies by Dynamite baits, and if that works may try another flavour in the range, as they do Pop ups and a dip to match each flavour. I might try Groundbait like crushed trout pellets and add a tin of tuna to the mix plus some different sizes of pellets, i'll see...zebs
