what do you all bait up on and fish on?
personally i fish on monster crab boilies and bait up over the week and only fish at the weekend to get them used to the spot and then whack a single bait monster crab over the top of the weeds just in the margins but thats just while its cold in summer i normally fish on the top with a dog buiscit glued to the hook or hallibut boilies ...happy fishing...

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?
Depends on where im fishing really and the time of year, weather etc
Certain venues I fish i've known sweet baits work well so i make up some pineapple and banana boilies (but in red rather than yellow) and other venues I tend to stick with Trigga Ice mainly in winter months, I quite often fish over a bed of pellet but this year im thinking of making more groundbait cocktails up and was thinking of using some tune in there along with crushed hemp and crushed halibut pellets, broken boilies etc. |

A pellet bed and boilie man here although i've been doing resonable using paste over a bed of betaine pellets only problem is it doesnt stay on the hook very long so frequent casting and trying to hit the same spot, leaving a marker out comes in very handy

I love surface fishing too. for me its one of the most exciting ways to catch carp. otherwise i often fish either boilies, mainly Activ8 or hair rigged sweetcorn over some crushed breadcrumb and hemp

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?
I use PVA bags quite frequently, but i dont like to put the entire rig in the bag as i feel the presentation looks very unnatural. Instead i prefer to make up some bags beforehand and have then sealed up, then I have my hooklengths attached with a clip so i can remove the hooklength at the swivel, fit it on a stringer needle and pull it through the middle of the bag then re-attach and cast straight out. I've found that using this method my hookbait and groundbait are well out of the way of the lead and theres little danger of my hooklength getting kinked up and becoming visible to feeding carp.

tom, sounds like you fish quite complicated i just hook the hook into the side of the bag and wrap some braid around the mainline and the top of the bag... which, when the bag dissolves the braid floats away, this method has caught me a few middle sized fish...happy fishing...

Re: what do you all bait up on and fish on?
It's not too complicated
![]() Literally just poke the hooklength in one side of the pva bag and out the other, then just nick the hook in the side. I dont really tend to fish runs waters so i ideally (mainly in the summer) want a lot of groundbait out in one hit so i go for xtra large pva bags and i've found that just hooking them they tend to fly off and bait up someone elses swim for them
