Hooklength materials

What do people tend to use as their hooklength materials?

Do you use flourocarbox, braid, coated braid?

I'm currently using either Korda I.Q flourocarbon, Fox Coretex, Suffix Stealthskin or Kryston snakeskin. Although i tend to favour the stealthskin or coretex as I'll confess to having difficulty using the kryston snakeskin as it tends to fall apart when i try to strip the coating back.

Re: Hooklength materials

I prefer to use Suffix Snakeskin as it can appear well camouflaged on a clay bottom

Re: Hooklength materials

Definately overkill that. I'd normally use a 10-12lb BS hooklength material and 15lb maximum as my main line is 15lb that way the hooklength will give first and if it does then the fish will only be trailing around 6 to 8 inches of line rather than a hundred yards. However i often use 30lb leadcore in my rigs but even so i'm always careful to make sure the hooklength gives first.

Re: Hooklength materials

Might have been a misprint? like 45lb leadcore but said hook length instead maybe

Re: Hooklength materials

Ah, i got the wrong idea I thought you meant for fishing in the UK

I can see that'd make sense because they were probably using a much higher BS hooklength and main line plus on the continent most waters can be particularly snaggy.
