Re: Help Please????

Hi Lee, I don't think I would be float fishing if I was after a 30lb carp. Normal float gear would not be anywhere powerful enough, saying that a mate of mine whilst we were staying at Warmwell caught a 17lb carp on a pole with only 4lb bottom, so what do I know! You would need a specialist float rod of about 10' a decent size reel and the burning question size and diameter of line, the other things you have to consider how far do have to cast, is it a big water, are you fishing margins. If it was the only way I would be using my 2 1/2lb t/c rod with my baitrunner, float depending on distance, line 12 to 15lb leaving about 6'' on the bottom. Hope this is of some help mate, and good luck with your quarry.

Re: Help Please????

I've caught Carp to 27lb float fishing. I use a barbel rod and 8lb line straight through. Fishing over depth by about 1". The place I usually fish this way isn't snaggy or overcrowded though or else I'd use 12lb line. One of the most exciting ways to fish for carp.
