Pike Pest
Hey there! A good friend of mine has just taken up carp fishing and comes with me and my brother whenever we go. After just a couple of weeks he is very competent and is almost fully geared up now. I've been carp fishing seriously now for about 7 years and never in all my experience have I seen a pike caught on a boilie. My friend did just this and managed to land it on a size 7 barbless hook as well. To add to that it weighed in at 18lb 6oz! We just thought it was a one off but over the last two sessions at our local reservoir we've been pestered by pike taking our boilie hook bait. Now, I spend most of my winters pike fishing but if I knew all I had to do was continue carping with boilies to catch them I would! Has anyone experinced this before or know of a possible reason why these pike have suddenly taken a shine to boilies?
Cheers guys, George |

Re: Pike Pest
Ironically I caught my PB pike when carp fishing (and I also go pike fishing), that was to a 16mm strawberry boilie if memory serves me correctly as it was about 12-13 years ago.
In my case i was retreiving to rebait and recast when the pike took it, presumably the boilie acted just like a lure being dragged through the water. |

Re: Pike Pest
i've had a couple of pike on boilies, even had one on a tiger nut, they've all come when winding in, nothing big, maybe 6lb tops
theres always a chance a pike will strike at something moving, specially jacks ![]() |
