Re: koiguchi,s way

Lmao, thanks paul for your comments, its nice to get some feedback i wonder when people read this what they are thinking.

Its funny you say about being an Author, i have very nearly finnished a book im writing called A Stroke of luck, which is all about my battles with my illness, believe it or not im not one for writing, i started writing it as a blog for a mate in Australia on a martial arts forum(my kids are martial arts mad) who wanted to know what happened and how i got to here now, before i knew it everyone was saying i should make it a book, and a very close friend(a big writer) told me it was a must he had never read anything like it before, he has put it out to a few experts who insist i should finnish it, but i find writing hard as i type with one finger on my wrong hand, and my punctuation and spelling is awful, my mate has just said write the bloody thing and he will do everything else, so i do a bit now and then, its taken me 3 years to get to where i am now with it.

Anyway just back from an overnighter, and yup another mare, will write it up later when i get a chance, i managed to sort the delkim that fell in the water, but the other ones buggered, but Tom has kindly offered to fix it for me, as he is a techno whizz and can do it, thanks mate i appreciate it.

Re: koiguchi,s way

Mon 12th October 9am

Sitting in the carpark waiting for my fishing buddy, so we could fish our prebooked swims.................... Baylif comes down to my Car...... er theres a problem im afraid your swims have been double booked, and they are occupied now and will be for the duration of your stay......

Im chilled, hey this is hardly news, how many times has this happened this year, and one reason i wont be back, once my ticket has expired.

Mate turned up told him the joyous news, went for a mooch, Mark picked the swim i fished last week as we saw nothing, and he knew id had fish last week. He beat me too it cos i was thinking the same thing, he went off and got his stuff.
I went and got my chair and set it up on the boat platoon as it gave a great view over the whole lake, the baylif bought me down a cupa(peace offering or bribe lol) whilst sitting there another two anglers set up in the deep end opposite the two fellas fishing the swims we booked, with mark in the shallows, ok so this made it a bit easier i would av to fish the middle or the shallows.
It was now 2pm and i hadnt seen a single fish or movement, so decided to fish next to mark in the swim id been trying to fish the last few sessions that for whatever reasons it transpired against me.
Mark ought my gear down, and set my bivy up for me, whilst i had a plumb around, by 4pm i had four places i was confident in fishing, Rods out, bivy organised, and as dark drew in it got very cold, so much so the old breath in the air thing was happening. We had a chinese and a cuppa in Marks swim and we retired to bed around 10pm, no action for either of us in the night, one f the fellas up the deep end had a 30lb catfish which made him qack his pants(first ever cat) he was scared to take the hook out, dunno what on earth he expected to catch using worms, cos the cats luv em.

Tues 13th October

Mark called me down to his swim for a cuppa at 8.30 am, we chatted as he packed away due to having to be at work at midday. With just his rods left to do a single bleep from the tree id put him on(the difficult one from last weeks session) as we looked the bobbin rose, Mark pulled into it.
Fish on
After a relativly short dull battle he sliped the net under yet another common a very short fish of around 10lbs so we both thought, until we parted the net ans saw a short but incredibly round fish waddling in the net, up onto the mat we both recognised the fish as the football, though intruth it was more like a dustbin lid, last time out she weighed in at 22lbs, on turning her over the tell tail sign of a big lump on the side was there yup def the Football(we think lump is a broken rib? its been like it for years) on the scales she went a tad over 23lbs.
Mark packed up and was on his way, i toyed with moving into his swim, but decided against it, cos indeed if i was careful i could actually fish the tree, but it cut very close to another spot i was fishing.
A very non eventful day ensued suprise suprise, i was happy with all the rods out for the night by 5pm, had the usual evening visitors walking around with the oh so predictable, caught anything mate.8pm it went cold again, so i went to bed and listened to the radio.
10pm i had a couple of bleeps to the difficult rod, i got up, and yup she was away, first thoughts yup carp..... mm big carp, she ploughed around at distance slowly and surley, in her own time, then in the middle of the lake all went solid, i pulled at angles, no joy i could feel the fish still, so decided to put the rod back on the buzzer and hope she would swim out in her own accord, some 15 mins later the buzzer sounded she was away, i gave her plenty of line, then started to play her.... good she was coming in, begrudgingly but she was coming , then all went solid again, once again i put her on the rests, and walked down to the boat, it was full of rain water, and the other fellas were asleep. i walked back, as i walked into the swim she was off again, i picked up the rod and went to the far right hand side of the swim to change the angle, but with the same results as before. rod back on the rests, phone rang it was Mark, i told him of my predicament, we discussed what to do, i decided give it one more shot, and if no joy mark would come down we would empty the boat and go out and get the bloody thing. i gave it half hour, with no occurance, picked up the rod the carp was off, with a little tug the rig came back, albeit a bit chaffed. As i was changing the rig i had a screamer on the ridiculously close in rod, no more than a foot from the bank, 10 mins later i slipped back a very livley common of 7lbs, i weighed it cos ive never caught anything that small in here before lol.

I put that rod back out, but was now kin knackerd, i ummed and rrrd about doing the difficult rod, my body said **** it go to bed, my head said make the effort, my head won.I put a fresh battery in the boat, to make sure and sent her out into the darkness, over the spot i dropped her on the money after walking round to the other bank to make sure, when the lights on the boat went out, and there was no power. i changed the bats in the handset to make sure, to no avail, ther boat was floating aimlessly around not a ripple on the water, i thoughht i muight be able to reach it, as it was just off the tree, i climbed down the bank(no mean feat for me) and with marker rod in hand tried to bring it back, but i was about two feet to short, i needed this like a hole in the head. sitting in my chair i wondered if the bait had been dropped maybe just by winding in the rod the lead etc would still be in the boat and i could wind it in............... fantastic good idea............... as if it was ever gona be that simple.
I went round again but the boat had drifted father out into the lake. sitting back in my chair i could just make her out in the darkness with my headtorch............ ok make a splah the other side the ripples would send her towards me, using the wound in rod, i thrashed the water to a frenzy, but she drifted down the lake not to me, once again i collapsed in my chair by now totally exhasusted, and dripping with sweat, it had warmed up a lot, and was now very cloudy, as if reading my mind the heavens opened and cried with me, i looked at the time 12.30am id been buggering about for an hour and a half. enough was enough i went and woke the fell up in the deep end explained my predicament and asked to borrow his boat to push mine to the edge, bless him he was more than helpful and five minutes later his boat was heading out to mine, he hit it, and all my lights came on, power was back and i bought her in.After thanking him and offering to buy him breakfast in the am, the fella went back to get some shut i.
on inspection i hadnt pushed the connectors back together tight enough, a lesson learnt, i put the boat in the bivy lent the rod against the bivy and went to sleep, woke up at 7am packed up, my mate came down and out it all away as i relived my nightmare night, two sessions on the trot, where things have gone wrong lets hope theres not a 3rd.

Re: koiguchi,s way

Mon 19th oct on for a quick overnighter

Met mark at Toad hall 4pm, he carted my gear round to my chosen swim, which suprised him! he thought i would opt for the deeper end!! but i saw a copuple of fish when mooching round waiting for him, so opted for the same swim as my last visit halfway down the lake.
Just the two of us on for the night, lake to ourselves bring it on.....Put the rods out in the same places as i described in my last blog, except for one rod, which went to an area i had seen the fish in, i would av a feel around in that area before i left in the am to see whats there, as i didnt want to disturb the area too much now.
Mark opted for a swim in the deeper end and was brimming with confidence,
the weather was wet and very overcast, but as the evening drew on the clouds cleared and the temp dropped dramatically, so much that i found myself going back to the car for my sleeping bag, the first time i hadnt slept under just my bedchair cover since March time, the bag sorted me, and i was as snug as a bug, later we found the temps had dropped to 3 degrees, for me not that cold, but it was the sudden drop that made it feel worse.
1.30am i awoke to a bleep from the difficult rod, i sat up on the edge of the bed and waited, ............nothing............. i had the customery sprinkle and climbed back into bed. Five mins later another single bleep, mmmmm again i gort up and waited.......... nothing...... was just thinking of getting back into bed and another bleep, i picked up the rod to see if i could feel anything..... nothing, as i put the rod down i thought i felt a tug, so up it came again,.. nothing, i held the rod and waited, then tug tug, yup something was there, i started to wind ... no resistance, til right near the edge and a little tug, and she came into sight, another golden bar of beuty, a little crucian of around a pound. So im thinking maybe i should change my name again from Koiguchi, to catman to crucian king.
That was the only action for me and my mate, packed up around 9am, had a feel round that area the fish showed and yup theres another spot there worth investigating more, one for next time me thinks.

Re: koiguchi,s way

Fri 23rd oct

popped over my local lake stalking for a couple of hrs before dark, with my lackey at my side, we enjoyed good sport, taking 6 carp to 16lbs and even changed to spinners and landed 3 jack pike, very enjoyable couple of hours.

Re: koiguchi,s way

Delkims good mate ta

This afternoon im taking my boy his mate and a young disabled lad down toad hall for a couple of nights fishing.I was going to take them to a runs water, but the kids all want to go for the big boys, and as all 3 of em are reasonable competent anglers thats what we are going to do.
looking at the mountain of gear in my house to get down the lake then ferry the kids down i reckon its gona take 3 or 4 trips, i need a lorry
Be nice to watch the kids cart all the gear down and set up, during the day im gona be asking them questions and getting them to show me what they know, and hopefully they will learn something, and if the gods are with us maybe .... maybe catch us a carp or two.

Re: koiguchi,s way

Well nothing exciting to write, but we are back all safe and sound

We all blanked, though Sam did contrive to lose one at 1.30 am yest morning

The boys all said they had a great time and enjoyed themselves, and learnt heaps, so thats good.

I have to say i wasnt looking forward to it coping with 3 of them on my own, but they all were very well behaved, and chipped in with the washing up and cooking lol, best part for me was just instructing them how to put the bivvys up etc, 3 lackeys all to myself

Might do it again next year, in the summer, but drag Tom along to help.

As for me, i have a couple of days rest then im back over Toad hall for a 3 night stint, a birthday pressy from the Mrs, ooooh i love my fishing, just wish it wasnt so bloody difficult wid my stupid body.
