Blue Pool, Bishops Itchington

Blue pool is located in the Bishops Bowl Lakes complex which is located in Bishops Itchington, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

A very nice looking lake which is only one of a complex consisting of 4 lakes the blue pool is so named due to its blue clay bottom giving the water a turquoise tinge. Essentially this is their carp water holding mirror and common carp in excess of 30lb. I have fished this lake only once and drew a big fat blank but potentially this lake could produce some very nice fish, when we attended there was a fair amount of litter scattered around and not many places to comfortably place a 2 man bivvy. There are very few pegs suitable for carp fishing but this helps as it reduces the amount of anglers on the lake at any one time and at the time we went we had the lake to ourselves.

The far banks are pretty much inaccessible for fishing, you'll be wanting to take some 3oz or larger leads as youll be doing some excessive casting distances to reach the far bank which is where we spotted the larger specimens and the lake is very snagy in that area. The far sides are both virtually like cliff-face drops so obviously fising from that area is out of the question.

Re: Blue Pool, Bishops Itchington

I've been there too, I used to do work for another carp website and we had a staff meet up there, unfortunately I got ill later the first evening so had to cut the session short and I didnt catch anything either, mind you no carp were put on the bank from the blue pool that day so at least that made me feel a bit better. A few were had off the top of one of the other lakes that evening though and i missed out on that, a real shame as i really enjoy surface fishing for carp.

hey Scotty, welcome to Carp Fishing Forums mate

Good to have you on board.

You guys did quite well over there, albeit it was a struggle landing anything with that small landing net but you and tom managed nonetheless and had some nice fish out. We'll have to sort something out, was thinking maybe Mid Kent Fisheries next time?

Hi guys if your looking to travel 3 hours i really dont think the linear fisheries would be a good move coz its like a city of bivvies most days, unless of course thats how you like it, cramped?
