Question Info on Thorpe Lea

Another blank at Willow Park
As I only have time for day fishing at the moment, I need to find a more consistent fishery - and I'm reading good things about Thorpe Lea.

Can some one give me some more local info...

What's the lake like? depth, gravel?

How busy does it get? Their website says BARBED hooks only? This that a typo, never heard of a rule like that..

Re: Info on Thorpe Lea

yep barb hooks only as with all cemex waters mate.

i know gemo knows this place well and he'll give you a full heads up should he visit.

from what i know its very well stocked and full of 20's. a real chance of a few fish during a 24hr session. good quality strain/good looking fish stocked from drayton res i believe.

popular day ticket water, might have the odd clown casting into your swim.

as with all highly stocked waters keep the bait going in, and i've heard they love a smell, bright pineapple pop-up.

hope this helps till gemo completes the picture.

Re: Info on Thorpe Lea

no longer a cemex water (i beleive) but the barb only rule still apply's, In my personal opinion a barb hook is far safer for a carp than a barbless, as it is unable to rip the fish's both any whr near as much.

Fished it one cold novemember day last year. If you want to fish it why not book a day with gemo on a coaching session, not only does he know the lake, he knows his fishing. from rigs to reels, he'll ensure you become a perfectionist.
