Priory Park - Southend on sea

Lake is conveniently situated close to the A127 with parking in surrounding roads, loads can be brought by barrow easily to the lake although its a bit of a trek depending where you park as some gates remain locked. The lake supposedly has a small head of carp with a lot of silvers and pike thrown in too. With regards to bait anything goes, tickets are available from the bailiff. No night fishing and public toilets are available in the park as is a cafeteria for light refreshments.

Re: Priory Park - Southend on sea

I can add to the info here. There are about 80 - 90 carp (ignoring recent spawnings). About 25% of these exceed 20 lb with a top weight so far of 28.

For those interested. Pike run up t0 27 lb and the top weight in recent years for tench is 10 lb 2 oz. There are no bream to cause annoyance.

Price of a day-ticket (for 2 rods) is £5 but there is likely to be an increase in June when the new lease is finalised.

Official park opening time is 7.30 am, but the council has an open gate policy now and although some of the small side gates may be locked, I believe the main gates are left open. This certainly applies to Shoebury and I know of no reason why Priory would be any different.
