New here

Hi guys,

Well i used to fish quite a bit when i was a younger, but stopped and have now got back into it with a few mates from work.
I interested in carp fishing, but dont really have alot of knowledge on it.
Ive got a few questions, and hopefully some of you guys can help out

I am looking to get some new tackle, i dont have a massive budget but ive found a few diffrent sets but dont know whether to buy or not.

"www" .argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3250486/Trail/searchtext%3EFISHING.htm

(Cant put links :s)

Is it a good idea to get a set like this or is it better to buy the stuff seperately.
If you guys think it would be better to buy seperately, could you let me know what are the must haves (obv i know i will need a rod and reel, this is regarding hooks and line etc). Im enquiring about this because obviously you get alot with that set, but im not sure whether the quality will be that good.

It would probably do for fish up 10-20lb? but there more i get into fishing will it be able to handle a 20lb+ fish?!?

Also i live in surrey and im looking for good carp lakes in the surrounding areas, i can drive so travel is not an issue. So if anyone knows of any good lakes for begginers would be a great help.

Cheers

Re: New here

i think i know the set your on about and yes that would do the job mate.

theres always plenty of tackle for sale on forums and on tackle trader.

Tackle Trader Classifieds - Buy and Sell your fishing gear... thats the link for the place mate.

you wont be able too fish without tackle mate so the argos stuff fits the bill nicely, you can up-grade as you go on should you feel the need mate.(remember ya rod liecence too mate)

your lucky as to where you live, surrey is stacked to the rafters with carp.
a local tackle shop will have information on clubs and waters that fill the requirements that you tell them.

good luck with your new hobbie mate and prepare for the bug to get you mate.

Hello Lred nice to have you on board mate.
The set you are looking at in argos is really basic and I think you will find it flimsey and cheap. Fiberglass rods do not cast or play fish well and 2.25TC is no where near strong enough. If you could stretch your budget to £250 - £300 well I know you would be able to buy a really great set up that will stand you in great stead for years to come.
Local lakes in Surrey / Hampshire
Thorpe lea fishery
Willow park fishery
farlows
Thorney weir
Old bury hill dorking
Bow saw lake Odiham
on and on and on.
Thorpe lea will bank you a upper double carp all day long and at £12.00 a day for two rods is good value.

Hey before you buy a load of tackle why not try a days carp fishing coaching with a professional carp coach and see exactly what tackle you will need and how to use it.
